Hopewell Vikings 7U All-Stars Battle Hard but Fall to Central Valley in Seeding Match
The Hopewell Vikings 7U All-Stars came up short in a high-energy matchup against the Central Valley 7U All-Stars, falling 10–6 on Friday evening at Kane Road.
Hopewell jumped ahead in the second inning, sparked by clutch hits from Tony Matthews, Enzo Markowitz, and Blake Kosta—each driving in a run to give the Vikings a 3–1 lead. After Central Valley tied things up in the bottom of the inning, Hopewell surged ahead again in the fourth. Matthews came through with a two-run single, and Markowitz added another RBI, putting Hopewell up 6–3.
But Central Valley’s bats came alive in the fifth inning, erupting for five runs on eight hits. A big two-RBI double from Jaxson W helped seal the game for Central Valley, who would hold on for the 10–6 win.
Despite the loss, Hopewell’s offense was strong, tallying 14 hits. Tony Matthews had a standout performance at the plate, going 2-for-2 with 3 RBIs. Other multi-hit performances came from Hayes Singletary, MJ Shegog, Blake Kosta, and Levi Magnone, each collecting two hits apiece.
Brady Daley led the way in the field with five putouts.
Ahmad Gates took the mound for Hopewell, allowing 10 runs on 22 hits while striking out three across four innings.
Central Valley was relentless at the plate with 22 total hits. Jeffrey S., Brayden B., and Ramzie J. each had three hits, while CJ C. drove in a team-high three runs. They also turned a key double play on defense.
Hopewell Vikings 7U All-Stars will look to bounce back in their next seeding game against Ambridge 7U All-Stars on Saturday.
