Hopewell Has No Trouble Against New Castle
Football Recap: Hopewell Has No Trouble Against New Castle
August 29, 2025 – Hopewell, PA
The Hopewell Vikings rolled to a dominant 31-6 victory over the New Castle Hurricanes on Friday night, avenging last season’s loss and continuing their strong start to the 2025 campaign.
Hopewell’s offense and defense both left their mark on the game. On the season, the Vikings are averaging an impressive 480 total yards per game, with 212 coming on the ground and another 268 through the air. That balance was on full display Friday as Hopewell’s running game set the tone early, while the passing attack consistently stretched the field. Receivers have been a reliable unit, contributing over 60 yards per game, keeping opposing defenses guessing.
Equally impressive has been the defensive side of the ball. The Vikings are averaging 47 tackles per game and have applied steady pressure in the backfield with multiple sacks across their first two contests. That relentless effort has kept opponents out of rhythm and limited them to just six total points all season. Against New Castle, the Hurricanes found little room to operate, managing only one score before Hopewell’s defense slammed the door shut.
Hopewell’s offensive firepower is also showing up on the scoreboard, as the Vikings are averaging 56 points per game through two weeks. Friday’s 31-point output was more than enough given how well the defense has held up.
For New Castle, the loss extends their road struggles, marking their fourth consecutive defeat away from home dating back to last season.
Both teams will be on the road in Week 3. Hopewell will face Ambridge on Friday at 7 p.m., while New Castle travels to Highlands for another non-conference test, also set for 7 p.m.
Final Score:
Hopewell 31, New Castle 6
