Hopewell Coach Pitch Plays Exciting Game Against Central Valley
HOPEWELL TWP- If you like offense, last nights Coaches Pitch game between Hopewell and Central Valley was the game for you.
Team Vukovcan and Coach Bailey’s squad from CV combined for 37 runs and 66 hits as CV won on the scoreboard, 24-13.
The kids from Hopewell competed hard for 6 innings and after the first two innings in which they were held scoreless, really swung the bats well.
Taking a look at Hopewell’s boxscore, Grayden McNally and Chris Spiropoulos led the way with 4 hits apiece. This is a cool thing for Chris because he’s a newcomer to baseball and thus is only his second baseball game ever. Two of his hits were hard line drives down the third base line.
As far as Grayden, he’s had a tremendous start to the season, hitting over .900!! He has a tremendous future ahead of him in baseball.
Four Vikings banged out 3 hits apiece: Kellen Harring, who’s doing a tremendous job from the leadoff spot; cleanup hitter Brody Tournay, who’s been smashing the ball all season; Trent Michaels, who’s a VERY solid all-around player; and Cullen Harcum, who played his best game of the year and received a game ball!
Will Vukovcan and Micah Zughaib both had two hits and Micah really hit the ball hard and is getting better every game. Thomas Edwards banged out a hit as did ‘The Dominator’ Dom Santamaria, who’s hitting over .600 for the season.
Audrey Wilt, who always has a smile on her face and loves to play the game, almost drove in a run but was robbed by the CV pitcher, who made a nice defensive play. Your big hit is coming Audrey!
Team Vukovcan is now 2-1-1 on the season and play next Thursday at Ambridge.
After the game, the team celebrated a hard fought game at Hopewell Bruster’s!
