Hopewell Team Vukovcan Coaches Pitch Pick Up 9-4 Win Over Ambridge

It was the home opener for Team Vukovcan’s Coaches Pitch Fall Ball team.

Hopewell took on the Ambridge Bridgers and came away with a 9-4 victory in a tightly contested game.

After scoring 22 runs and collecting 37 hits in the opener, Hopewell couldn’t reach those lofty numbers but still put up 9 runs and banged out 18 hits.

Leading the way for Hopewell (2-0) tonight were Grayden McNally and Cullen Harcum with 3 hits apiece. Four Vikings banged out 2 hits including Dom Santamaria, Micah Zughaib, Brody Tournay and Kellen Haring. Thomas Edwards, Trent Michael, Chris Spiropoulous and Will Vukovcan each recorded 1 hit.

RBI getters for Hopewell were McNally leading the way with 4, Vukovcan with 2 and Harcum, Zughaib and Tournay each with 1.

Hopewell made a number of plays in the field, led with Trent Michael, who made two outstanding plays at shortstop, including this one.

The two Hopewell players that received game balls were Michaels and Spiropoulous, who played in his first career baseball game tonight. Christopher banged out an RBI single.
