Exciting Hopewell Youth Baseball Game Last Night Between Team Ackerman and Team Vukovcan

If offense is what you like to see in a baseball game, last night’s Hopewell Youth Baseball Coach Pitch game between Team Ackerman and Team Vukovcan was for you.

In a highly entertaining and competitive game, Team Ackerman came out on top, 13-10.

Both teams played extremely well, combining for 23 runs and 48 hits, with Team Ackerman collecting 26 and Team Vukovcan with 22. As often is the case, the offense gets all the attention but both teams made a number of defensive plays in the field, especially Team Ackerman which turned out to be the difference in the game.

As the coach of Team Vukovcan, I’m proud of the way our group of kids continue to compete and get better. Little by little, game by game, we can see improvement from every single player on the team. On defense, they are in position and are so close to executing and getting that out but are just a second or two late or the throw goes wide. I keep telling them that they’re so, so close. It was so nice to see the kids have an offensive game like that. Putting the bat on the ball and getting on base last night like they did, gives them confidence and allows them to feel good about themselves, which is so important.

At this level of baseball, winning isn’t important at all. It’s 100% about player development and kids developing the love of baseball. Hopefully, we as coaches are accomplishing that.
