HW Youth Baseball takes on CV, triple game coverage!

Published

on

It was a busy night for HW Youth baseball but not at Kane Road. Three HW teams took on Central Valley at 6pm this evening.

Hopewell Little league Team Gigliotti loses 7-2 after six. Team Gigliotti couldn’t get the bats moving against a hard hitting CV – Boulding Team.

CV-Boulding has always been a difficult opponent at this age level with strong arms and heavy bats they delivered again with Boulding launching a two run home run in the bottom of the first inning.

Noah Honess started on the mound for HW and gave up one hit and three runs striking out two and walking one. The only offense came on five hits from Hopewell; Connor Reed, Rilynn Davis, Wesley Gigliotti, and Noah Honess all had hits. Team Gigliotti has a matchup on Tuesday against Ambridge.

Hopewell coach pitch Holsinger lost a back-and-forth game to CV 16 to 10.

CV took the lead 1-0 in the first inning on along over the fence homer.

The Young Hopewell hammers were not intimidated and bounce back to take the lead 4-1 on a Jacob Sutton three run triple.

Trailing 5-4 the hammers went on the offensive again and put a max 6 run inning together and took a 10-5 lead.

Unfortunately, the Hammers were done scoring and CV scored the final 11 runs on the evening to close out the come back win.

Jacob Sutton lead the charge with four hits and four RBIs. Deacon Ankrom, Max Holsinger and Nico BonAnno each collected three hits. Every kid on the team had at least one hit on the night.  Levi Schmidt won the game ball after registering his first two hits of his coach pitch career.

The team is back in action on Thursday at home versus Ambridge.

Jason Roses- HW Kids Beasts minors team managed to squeeze out the tie at the end of the game.

Team Rose started out down 4-0 after the 1st. They remained down the entire game until tying it at 9’s in the Top of the 6th.

Pitching was key! Holsinger came in and shut them down for 2 innings. Lucas came in and had a a great inning. Then Owen came in during the 5th, worked them out of the inning and shut them down in the bottom of the 6th.

Holsinger went 3-3 and Bryce hit a deep shot to LF for an RBI double driving the offense for Team Rose.

After trailing 4–0 in the first inning, the Beasts put up two runs in the third highlighted by a long Bryce Croner double.

Trailing 9-5 heading into the top of the sixth, the Beasts put on their rally caps. Edited by a good eye at the plate in a timely Lucas Strano single, the Beasts tied the game at 9.

Owen McGovern slammed the door shut in the bottom of the sixth inning with 2K’s and a ground out.

Hopewell Minors Rose roared back to secure a 9-9 tie against CV.

All in all it wasn’t a great night for HW at CV but it is early in the season and there is still plenty of games left!

Hello Hopewell! While I am not originally a Hopewell native, it has been my home for over 12 years. My wife and I have three beautiful children that all play Hopewell sports including baseball and softball. My wife and I are both active in coaching our Children's teams. I am a member of the Hopewell Youth Baseball Board of Directors and you will probably see me out at the fields at least a few days a week. Most recently coaching my youngest sons TBALL team.
