Hopewell 4th Grade Travel Team Advances To Championship Game of West Allegheny Tournament
The Hopewell 4th Grade Boys Travel Basketball team is one game away from winning another tournament.
On Saturday, the Vikings took on teams from host West Allegheny and Peters Township and won both games.
In the first game against West Allegheny, Hopewell started off red hot as they connected on their first 4 shots of the game. That early success along with clean execution throughout the game allowed them to play with the lead, which in the end was too much for West Allegheny to overcome. At halftime, Hopewell led by the score of 26-6. With such a comfortable score throughout, the Hopewell coaches were afforded the opportunity to use the entire roster and to get them valuable on-court playing time.
Final Score: Hopewell 37 West Allegheny 26
The second game was vs. another strong competitor in Peters Township. This game was close from the start and tied on multiple occasions. However, Hopewell never trailed at any point, and their aggressive defense was what really stood out. In the last minutes, the lead opened up just enough to create some comfort for Hopewell.
Final Score: Hopewell 27 Peters Township 20
Next up is the Championship Game this afternoon vs. the other #1 seed, Bethel Park. This game will tip off at 2:20 PM at West Allegheny High School. Good luck to this Hopewell 4th grade team on trying to bring home the top prize for the second tournament this season.
