Hopewell 6th Grade Girls Fall in Championship Game to a Talented Blackhawk Team

The Hopewell 6th Grade Girls Travel Basketball team came within one win of capturing the Beaver County Youth Championship.

Coach Rushel Shell’s team opened the day with a matchup against the Central Valley Warriors and came away with a 26-21 victory.

As the score indicated, this was a close game which had 10 different lead changes.

This game went into halftime with the score tied at 11 but the difference was Hopewell outscoring CV, 12-8, in the 4th quarter.

Hopewell Scoring vs. Central Valley:
-Arionna Shell 8 points, 3 rebounds, 2 steals, 3 blocks.
-Amiyah Shell 8 points, 6 rebounds, 1 block.
-Elianna McCoy 8 points, 9 rebounds.
-Afton Budris 2 points, 2 rebounds, 2 steals.

In the championship game, the Vikings took on Blackhawk, but the Cougars got the best of them, 43-28.

Arionna Shell scored 12 points and grabbed 12 rebounds. Amiyah Shell scored 7 points, Brooke Otto scored 3 points, Elianna McCoy had 2 points, Sam Holsinger 2 points and Stella Sannan chipped in 2 points.

Last, but definitely not least, our 6th grade team also made it to the championship game in the playoffs today in the Beaver County Youth Basketball League and came in 2nd place.
