HW 12U Baseball loses nail biter to Blackhawk
We see a lot of games here at HSN and experience a lot of ups, downs and changes in scoring leads but this game of Hw vs Blackhawk was a nail biter all the way through.
In a low scoring 5-4 game both teams battled it out for multiple game lead changes. Defense was on point for Hopewell turning double plays (Nico Yanessa) with a monster catch and throw from the warning track straight away center to first base, and a pitching duel that lasted the entire game on both sides.
When HW needed a play they for it whether it was the perfect pitch at exactly the right time, or great fielding to end an inning with runners in scoring position. The pitching team for HW which consisted of Mason Santamaria, David Johnson, Conner Eiler and Elliott Mancos combined for 9 strike outs holding Blackhawk at bay.
At the end of the night it came down to a couple of key hits from Blackhawk and an acrobatic leap over the HW catcher to steal home that sealed the game up.
Never had a team fought harder and regardless of the outcome we are proud of how the boys played tonight, said coach Mancos. The depth and experience on this team to come together in Fall has been great to watch and we expect to see more at their next outing as they take on Riverside in an away game.
