Hopewell 12U Navy Battles to an 11-8 Victory Over Blackhawk
The Hopewell 12U Navy team came out strong Monday night at Indy, pulling off an 11-8 win over Blackhawk.
Blackhawk jumped on the board early in the first, but Hopewell answered back quickly. Lacey S. drew a walk to bring in a run, and Sofia C. crushed an inside-the-park home run to drive in two more, giving Hopewell a 3-2 lead after the first inning.
The Navy kept the momentum rolling. In the second, Tayla S. ripped a triple, Lacey worked another walk, and aggressive base running—including a steal of home—added two more runs. The offense exploded again in the third with four runs, highlighted by Ruby F.’s inside-the-park home run that cleared the bases for three RBI.
On the mound, Tayla S. got the start, striking out three over 2.1 innings. Madison S. came in for relief and kept the pressure on.
At the plate, Ruby F. led with three RBI, while Natalie F., Tayla, Sofia, Meier S., and Ruby all chipped in hits. Madison S. showed patience with three walks, as the team combined for an impressive 15 walks on the night. Hopewell also dominated the base paths, swiping 15 bases—multiple each from Madison, Tayla, Sofia, Lacey, and Jaina Z.
It was a complete team effort, with strong pitching, smart at-bats, and fearless base running fueling the win.
Way to go, Hopewell 12U Navy! 💛💙⚾️
