The BCCL Hopewell Colt League squad put on a dominant display Thursday night, combining explosive offense and timely pitching to notch a 17-7 win over BCCL South Side Beaver.
Hopewell came out swinging, with Parker Hoth setting the tone early by driving in two runs with a first-inning single. Gunner Reese followed with a bases-loaded walk to give Hopewell an early advantage. Though South Side Beaver responded in the bottom half with four runs of their own, Hopewell quickly reclaimed momentum.
The second inning saw a pivotal shift as Hopewell erupted for five runs on five hits to take an 8-4 lead. Hoth delivered again with a two-run single to spark the inning. The offense kept rolling in the third with another five-run outburst, highlighted by an RBI single from Owen Ackerman and a two-run double from Reese.
Hopewell tallied 16 hits on the day, with Ackerman and Jacob Knobloch each collecting three. Reese and Hoth led the team with three RBIs apiece, while Jayvion Lindsey, Camden Hoth, and Payton Korker all had multi-hit performances in the offensive performance.
On the mound, Korker earned the win, striking out 11 over 4.2 innings. He allowed just five earned runs while keeping South Side’s hitters off balance. Ackerman provided solid relief, closing the door with 1.1 scoreless innings and allowing only one hit.
South Side Beaver battled throughout, led by Jake Lytle’s 2-for-3 performance and three RBIs. Ian Dilts also had a strong day at the plate with two hits and a pair of stolen bases.
With the win, BCCL Hopewell continues to build momentum as they gear up for their next challenge. The bats are hot, the arms are dialed in, and this team looks poised for a strong finish to the summer season.
