Coach Matt Mottes and Members of the 2024 Hopewell Football Team Honored Tonight
Congratulations are in order for Hopewell Football coach Matt Mottes and members of his 2024 team.
Today, 2024 individual awards were given out to players and coaches in various conferences throughout the WPIAL and a number of Hopewell Vikings were honored.
Six Vikings were named to the 1st or 2nd team in the Class 3A Western Hills Conference and a number of players were named Honorable Mention. Considering the overall talent and strength of this conference, this was quite impressive.
It should also be pointed out that no Hopewell players were named to the 1st or 2nd team All-Conference last season so that’s a huge change for the better.
HSN would like to start off by congratulating Hopewell head coach Matt Mottes, who was named Co-Coach of the Year in the Western Hills Conference.
Mottes was named interim head coach following the departure of John Rosa and in his first season as a high school head coach, Mottes helped guide the Vikings to a 4-6 record. That win total was Hopewell’s most since the 2017 season.
Considering this was his first time serving as a head coach, the number of young players playing in key positions and the recent history of this program, Mottes did a heck of a job in 2024.
“It’s an honor to share this award with a guy like Cort Rowse,” Coach Mottes tells HSN. “But I have to give the credit for this award to our players. They went out and played their hearts out every Friday night. They deserve the recognition more than we do as a staff.”
Congratulations to the following players for being selected to the 1st and 2nd teams, along with the group named to Honorable Mentions.
