Hopewell Girls Volleyball Battles but Loses to Quaker Valley in 4-Sets

Last night, the Hopewell Girls volleyball team faced off against Quaker Valley in their first conference match of the season.

Unfortunately, the girls lost 3 sets to 1 to a good Quaker Valley team. With the loss, Hopewell drops to 2-1 on the season.

Some of my top performers of the night included senior MH Alyssa Spang, senior captain Jordan Sirianni, senior Libero Mena Catanzarite, and junior DS Addison Davis.

SET ONE:
-Bella Ceccarelli with an ace, Hopewell 5-3.
-Ceccarelli with back-to-back aces, Hopewell 6-3.
-Bri Inderelst with the block, Hopewell 9-8.
-Inderelst with an ace, Quaker Valley 15-12.
-Jordan Sirianni with a kill, who was set up by Alyssa Spang, Quaker Valley 16-13.
-Ceccarelli sets up Spang for the kill, Quaker Valley 18-14.
-Sirianni with an ace, Quaker Valley 20-16.
-Reese Murray with an amazing pass to Ceccarelli, who sets up Inderelst for the kill, Quaker Valley 23-18.

QUAKER VALLEY WINS SET 25-19

SET TWO:
-Spang with an amazing block, Hopewell 1-0.
-Ceccarelli passes to Matanzarite, who sets up Sirianni for the kill, Hopewell 2-0.
-Sirianni with another kill, Hopewell 3-1.
-Spang with another block, Hopewell 4-1.
-Ceccarelli sets up Inderelst for the kill, Hopewell 8-5.
-Spang with the kill, Hopewell 9-6.
-Sirianni with yet another kill, Hopewell 11-6.
-Sirianni, absolutely on fire, with another kill, Hopewell 12-6.
-Mikayla Kurta with a nice block, Hopewell 15-9.
-Sirianni with another kill, Hopewell 16-9.
-Reese Murray with the kill, Hopewell 18-15.
-Addison Davis with a great pass, which leads to a Vikings point, Hopewell 20-19.
-Spang with an amazing kill, Hopewell 21-20.
-Sirianni again with the kill, Hopewell 22-20.
-Another kill for Spang, Hopewell 23-21.
-Kurta with a kill, ties the set up, 25-25.
-Quaker Valley wins next two points.

QUAKER VALLEY WINS SET 27-25

SET THREE:
-Sirianni with a nice tip, Hopewell 6-3.
-Reese Murray with the kill, Hopewell 7-4.
-Inderelst with the kill, Hopewell 9-6.
-Sirianni can’t be stopped, another kill, Hopewell 12-10.
-Reese Murray with a nice spike which leads to the kill, Quaker Valley 16-15.
-Catanzarite with the ace, Hopewell takes the lead 18-17.
-Inderelst with a nice tip, Hopewell 20-17.
-Davis passes to Ceccarelli, who sets up Spang for the kill, Hopewell 21-17.
-Spang with a great block, ties the match up, 23-23.
-Back-to-back blocks for Spang, Hopewell 24-23.
-Spang AGAIN with a speaky tip over the net and it fools the defense to win the set.

HOPEWELL WINS SET, 25-23

SET FOUR:
-Spang passes to Ceccarelli, who goes right back to Spang for the kill, Quaker Valley 2-1.
-Lahna Murray with the kill, Quaker Valley 11-6.
-Sirianni with the kill, Quaker Valley 17-8.
-Lahna Murray with the tip, 23-11.

QUAKER VALLEY WINS THE SET 25-11

The girls fought hard and gave it their all but couldn’t find a way to come out on top. They’ll look to bounce back tomorrow night as they travel to Northgate. This second section match with start at 7 PM.

The Vikings will return home on September 12 to take on New Brighton.
