WPIAL Releases Bracket for 2024 Playoffs, Hopewell HS Baseball Receives Seeding and 1st Round Opponent

Morgan Singletary and the Hopewell Vikings found out their path in order to repeat as WPIAL 4A Baseball Champions.

This morning, the WPIAL released the brackets for the 2024 WPIAL Baseball Playoffs.

Hopewell will enter the playoffs as the No. 12 Seed and will take on Greater Latrobe in the first round.

That game will be played at Plum High School, with the first pitch set for 4 PM.

If the Vikings are able to get by Greater Latrobe, they would then take on the winner of the game between No. 4 Montour and No. 13 Uniontown. That game would take place on Monday, May 20th.

Here are the first-round matchups in the 4A Bracket.

No. 1 Belle Vernon vs. No. 16 Blackhawk.

No. 8 Central Valley vs. No. 9 Indiana.

No. 4 Montour vs. No. 13 Uniontown.

No. 5 Greater Latrobe vs. No. 12 Hopewell.

No. 2 Thomas Jefferson vs. No. 15 Ringgold.

No. 7 Chartiers Valley vs. No. 10 Kiski Area.

No. 3 West Mifflin vs. No. 14 Knoch.

No. 6 North Catholic vs. No. 11 Elizabeth Forward.

The WPIAL Baseball Championship games are May 28-29 at Wild Things Park in Washington.

The No. 1 seeds in the 6 different classifications are: 6A/Mt. Lebanon, 5A/West Allegheny, 4A/Belle Vernon, 3A/Riverside, 2A/Serra Catholic and 1A/Union.
