12u Rec Softball – Coach Holiday Beats Blackhawk
Inspired by Coach Amanda, Hopewell Gold 12U wins 15–14 against Blackhawk white.
Hopewell drove their record to 3–0 on the season inspired by the recent surgery of their head coach Amanda Holiday.
Hopewell gave up four runs in the top of the first but bounced back in the bottom half with five runs on singles by Sam Holsinger, Izzy Mutkus and Ava Holiday as well as a double by Gianna Rossi.
After giving up five more runs in the second, the lady Vikings rode back with five runs again to take a 10 to 9 lead. Singles from Sam Holsinger and Izzy Mutkus, surrounded by some walks fueled the inning.
Starting pitcher, Sam Holsinger settled down in the third inning and shut down Blackhawk with a key bases loaded strike out to end the inning.
The Vikings responded with their third straight, five run inning on a big double by Gianni Rossi and a single by Sienna Zon led the attack.
Sam Holsinger responded with another shut out inning in the fourth to secure the win.
Hopewell accumulated 11 hits on the day led by Holsinger, Holiday, Mutkus and Rossi with two hits apiece. Sienna Zon, Gabby Gray and Summer Shreve also added hits.
Sam Holsinger and Izzy Mutkus both pitched for the first time this season while their ace Abby Babinsack rested.
The girls won this one for Coach Amanda, who recently underwent major surgery. Rest up Coach this one was for you!!!
