HW Varsity Softball Cal Ripken Experience Game 1 Highlights

The Lady Vikings started their week out on a high note in Pigeon Forge, defeating Rossford High School 6-4.

Kara Barkovich dominated on the mound, striking out 10 Rossford players in the victory over Rossford. Barkovich surrendered eight hits and four runs over seven innings while walking five.

The Vikings were hot at the plate against Rossford with both Chloe Nale and Kara Barkovich hitting inside of the park home runs. The bats didn’t stop there, with Tori Mann going 3 for 3 with a double and two singles and Bella Katkich going 2 for 4 with a triple.

It was a great team effort in the first outing here in Tennessee the HW Varsity Defense shut down a late surge in the last inning converting a 4-6-3 Double Play. The players seem excited to get some games in while enjoying great weather and a beautiful view!

Hello Hopewell! While I am not originally a Hopewell native, it has been my home for over 12 years. My wife and I have three beautiful children that all play Hopewell sports including baseball and softball. My wife and I are both active in coaching our Children's teams. I am a member of the Hopewell Youth Baseball Board of Directors and you will probably see me out at the fields at least a few days a week. Most recently coaching my youngest sons TBALL team.
