Hopewell HS Girls Basketball With Important Game Tonight Against Central Valley
Tonight, Head Coach Jeff Homziak and the Hopewell Girls Basketball team have already qualified for the upcoming WPIAL Playoffs but still have an important game tonight.
The Vikings will host Central Valley at Hopewell High School with tipoff set for 6:30 PM.
Here are the current standings in Section 2, Class 4A:
Blackhawk: 8-0
Quaker Valley: 4-3
Hopewell: 4-4
Central Valley: 4-4
Beaver: 3-5
Ambridge: 0-7
Blackhawk, Quaker Valley, Central Valley and Hopewell have all qualified for the playoffs, but tonight’s game will impact the seeding for the playoffs. The higher you finish in the standings, in all likelihood, the higher seeding you will receive.
Earlier this season, the Vikings beat Central Valley by the score of 49-39. Central Valley finishes the season with a game against Quaker Valley. If Hopewell can win tonight and if Central Valley beats Quaker Valley, the Vikings have a chance to finish second in the section.
After tonight’s game, Hopewell will have just one non-conference games remaining (February 12th vs. Northgate.) The Ambridge team is forfeiting their remaining three games, one of which was against Hopewell, so Hopewell actually enters tonight with a section record of 5-4.
Tonight’s home game is all important because tonight is a Hopewell Girls Basketball charity game and they’ll be giving back donations to Hopewell’s autistic classrooms.
If your schedule permits, stop by the high school at 6:30 PM to cheer on the girls and also support Autism Awareness.
