Congrats to the Hopewell HS Bowling Team For Qualifying For The WPIBL Tournament!
The Hopewell Boys bowling team is on its way to the WPIBL tournament after securing a 7-0 victory against Ambridge, solidifying their 2nd place in the Southwest division. This accomplishment guarantees the Vikings a spot in the WPIBL Championship tournament.
Freshman Aidan Heppner led the charge with an outstanding career-high 591 series, showcasing a career-best game of 203 followed by another personal best of 229. Sophomore Brayden Mowry added scores of 177 and 175, junior Colin Roessler contributed a solid 171, and freshman Ayden Gault made his varsity debut with an impressive career-high score of 193. With two matches left in the season, the Vikings are in an excellent position to set themselves up for year-end tournaments.
The Hopewell Women’s team faced tough competition, losing two closely contested games and ultimately dropping the match 0-7. The first game slipped away by a margin of 21 pins, and the second by 24 pins. Despite the defeat, the team put forth a tremendous effort, led by freshman Annabeth Sembower, who achieved a match-high series of 423 and a match-high game of 163. Junior team captain Jenna Willy contributed the second-highest series with a commendable 363, and Junior Marissa Platko recorded a season-high 119-game score in an exciting and closely contested match.
In Junior Varsity action, the JV Boys secured a 5–2 victory against the Bridgers, led by freshman Aiden Klette’s career-high series of 386.
In other commendable team news, the Vikings extend congratulations to the following team members for their outstanding academic achievements in the quarter, demonstrating that they are not only great bowlers but also exceptional students. Special commendations go to Zach Hughes and Annabeth Sembower for achieving highest honors. Additionally, congratulations to Gannon Berg, Bayley Carmichael, Daniel Earley, Ayden Gault, Reese Jacobs, Will Holland, Brayden Mowry, Marissa Platko, Nick Riviera, and Jenna Willy for earning a place on the honor roll.
The Vikings are in action today at Paradise Island Bowl for an exhibition match versus Nazareth Prep.
