Hopewell Hockey
Hockey In Hopewell!!
Did you know that the Vikings have a hockey team?
You’re probably in the majority that do not.
Hopewell actually has two teams that consist of middle school players, as well as high school players. They are part of the co-op that plays under the Central Valley logo. In case you’re not aware, with some smaller schools, they struggle to make up a sports team, so co-ops became a way for players to continue playing a sport they love when there’s not enough kids in one district to roster.
Our hockey program is a co-op that consists of six different school districts- Hopewell, Central Valley, New Brighton, Freedom, Beaver Falls and Riverside. Over 10 players on the team attend Hopewell.
The team plays out of the Brady’s Run rink located inside the park. This team has been in existence for over 10 years now.
Despite being from different school districts, these players have worked to bond over their love of hockey. They have late night practices 3-4 times a week. The determination and commitment is definitely there. You don’t always need to weaer a Viking head to show your pride.
Because of the Pittsburgh Penguins, hockey is huge in Western Pennsylvania so we hope you can take some time to come watch the middle school or varsity team in action. Schedules can be found on Facebook if you follow CV Hockey.
We hope to see you at the rink!!
Varsity opens their home season on October 5 at 6:45 PM, Brady’s Rink. It’s a White Out with student giveaways.
