CV Navy 12U Outpaces Hopewell 12U Navy in High-Scoring Matchup

Despite a spirited effort, Hopewell 12U Navy couldn’t hold off the offensive surge from CV Navy 12U, falling 17-7 in Thursday’s matchup.

CV Navy wasted no time getting on the board, tallying four runs in the opening inning. Ellie F. led off with a single down the left field line, followed by a defensive miscue, a Samantha S. double, and a Taylor G. triple to center—all resulting in runs.

In the second inning, Ellie tacked on another RBI single to extend CV Navy’s lead to 5-2.

The third inning saw another offensive burst from CV Navy 12U, scoring five runs on three hits. Madison S. doubled in a run, Samantha crushed a solo homer to center, and Ally M. singled in another. Two more runs came across on a fielding error.

CV Navy’s offense didn’t slow down in the fourth, scoring five additional runs despite not recording a hit in the frame. A hit-by-pitch, walk, fielder’s choice, and a pair of errors helped fuel the scoring.

Hopewell 12U Navy showed grit in the bottom of the fourth, putting up five runs of their own. A series of walks drawn by Meier S., Lily B., and Sofia C., along with Maisie K. being hit by a pitch, brought in four runs. A daring steal of home capped the scoring rally.

Tayla S. started in the circle for Hopewell, allowing seven hits and 13 runs (only four earned) in 1.1 innings, while striking out two and walking five. Ellie got the start for CV Navy and pitched 3.1 innings, giving up just two hits and seven runs, with four strikeouts and seven walks.

Hopewell’s offense was led by Madison S. and Aubrey M., who each collected a hit. Madison, Maisie, and Aubrey all drove in a run. The team demonstrated solid plate discipline with seven walks, including two by Sofia C. On the base paths, Hopewell was aggressive and effective, stealing 10 bases—multiple swipes each from Sofia, Madison, Lily, and Lacey S.

CV Navy 12U racked up 10 hits in total. Ellie, Reagan G., and Samantha each had two-hit games, with Samantha also driving in three runs while going 2-for-2. The team added eight walks and six stolen bases, with Adalynn S. leading the way with three.
