Hopewell Varsity Baseball Lose Home Opener vs. Riverside!

Kingston got the call to the mound today in the Hopewell Varsity Baseball Season Home Opener vs. Riverside. It was a rough first inning with Hopewell giving up four runs in the top of the first. More of the same continued as Hopewell was down 7-0 by the top of the 4th inning.
The surprising story is the lack of offensive production; however, this was partially due to Riversides Ace Lucarelli who pitched an outstanding game, shutting down the Hopewell bats. Lucarelli put up 9 strikeouts on the day followed by another 2 from the Riverside reliever Garvin.
With Zeros across the board in offense Hopewell did not have much of a chance to mount a return, they also struggled on the field putting up three errors. By the time the game got to the middle of the fourth inning Riverside had opened up the scoring tacking on another 7 runs. This is how the score would remain through five innings as Hopewell was shutout 14-0.
Hopewell will try and rally against their next opponent vs. Beaver on Monday 3/24 – at home at 4:00 PM.
