With playoff positioning hanging in the balance, Hopewell delivered one of its most complete performances of the season Tuesday night, blanking BF Owls 11-0 behind a near perfect pitching display and an offense that found contributions throughout the lineup.

The victory moves Hopewell one step closer toward securing a spot in the championship bracket, setting the stage for what could be a season-defining performance.

Pitching Perfection Sets the Tone

It all started on the mound.

Ryder Kostrick was electric from the opening pitch, overwhelming BF Owls hitters with command and velocity. The right-hander tossed 2⅔ hitless innings, allowing no runs, no walks, and striking out an incredible eight of the eight batters he faced.

Every time BF Owls appeared ready to settle in, Kostrick slammed the door shut.

When his night on the mound concluded, Mason Santamaria took over and never missed a beat.

Santamaria worked two scoreless innings, surrendering just one hit, walking one, and striking out five. Behind the plate earlier and on the mound later, Santamaria showcased the versatility and poise that have become trademarks of his game.

Together, the duo combined for a one-hit shutout with 13 strikeouts, issuing just one walk over five innings. It was the type of pitching performance teams dream about during playoff races.

Early Offense Sparks Hopewell

Hopewell wasted little time putting pressure on BF Owls.

In the first inning, Wade Enders lifted a sacrifice fly to bring home the game’s opening run before Ryder Kostrick thrilled the home crowd with an inside-the-park home run, extending the advantage to 2-0.

The bats stayed hot in the third inning.

Kostrick delivered an RBI single, Connor Eiler added an RBI groundout, and Grant Olson ripped a run-scoring double to stretch the lead.

By the fifth inning, Hopewell put the game completely out of reach.

Elliott Mancos sparked the rally with an RBI triple. Noah Honess followed with an RBI single. David Johnson drove in another run with a base hit, and Henry Dunn capped the inning with a two-run single.

One of the biggest positives from Tuesday’s victory was the balanced offensive attack.

• Mason Santamaria reached base twice, scored two runs, added a hit, and contributed another stolen base.
• Connor Eiler doubled and drove in a run.
• Elliott Mancos made the most of his opportunities, going 1-for-1 with a triple, two runs scored, one RBI, and two walks.
• Noah Honess added a hit, scored once, drove in a run, drew a walk, and later closed out the game on the mound.
• Grant Olson continued his strong season, going 2-for-3 with a double, two RBIs, and a run scored.

Hopewell finished the night with 12 hits, 11 RBIs, and seven stolen bases, consistently putting pressure on the BF Owls defense.

Clean Baseball Wins Games

Just as impressive as the pitching and hitting was Hopewell’s work in the field.

The team committed zero errors, playing fundamentally sound baseball from start to finish.

Santamaria led the defensive effort with eight chances handled flawlessly, helping preserve the shutout.

Eyes on Riverside

As impressive as Tuesday’s win was, the job isn’t finished.

The victory strengthens Hopewell’s playoff position, but the next challenge looms large.

A matchup against Riverside Linville Pony could very well determine who advances into championship contention and who earns the opportunity to play for it all.

If Team Dunn Pack N Ship can carry the same formula into that contest, dominant pitching, timely hitting, aggressive baserunning, and mistake-free defense, they will give themselves every chance to keep their postseason dreams alive.

For one night, though, Hopewell reminded everyone exactly what this group is capable of.

Eleven runs. One hit allowed. Thirteen strikeouts. Zero errors.
