Hopewell 12U Navy Delivers a Spooktacular Win!

Tonight’s game was a special one for both 12U teams! The coaches came together to organize a fun Halloween-themed matchup, and the players fully embraced the spirit — taking the field in creative costumes and plenty of smiles. 🎃🥎

The game was competitive yet lighthearted, filled with laughter and great sportsmanship. Afterward, Rochester hosted a pizza party for players and families, wrapping up the evening in true community style.

Events like this remind us why we do what we do — to share a love for the game and build friendships that create lifelong memories.

Here are some game highlights:

Hopewell 12U Navy dominated the diamond on Tuesday night on the road against Rochester with to a 16–2 win. This was behind a huge offensive performance from Madison Santamaria and stellar pitching from Meier Swana and Sofia Cronin.

Madison powered the offense with five RBIs on two hits, including an inside-the-park grand slam in the third inning that broke the game wide open. She also added an RBI single in the second as Hopewell’s bats came alive.

Hopewell jumped out fast in the first inning after Lacey Snouffer drew a walk, Meier Swana singled, and several patient at-bats brought runners across the plate. The second inning saw more fireworks, with Madison driving in one, Meier adding a two-run single, Kaleah Potter bringing one home, and Natalie Freddo forcing in a run with a bases-loaded walk.

The third inning sealed the deal as Tayla Schwartzmiller and Lacey Snouffer each drew walks to score runs before Madison crushed her grand slam to center field, capping a five-run inning.

In the circle, Meier Swana (#18) was outstanding, pitching 3.0 innings and allowing just two hits and two runs while striking out eight. Sofia Cronin (#31) finished the game with one perfect inning, striking out two and allowing no hits or walks.

Hopewell’s offense collected eight hits on the night. Madison and Meier led the charge with two apiece, while Lacey reached base three times on walks. The team showed impressive patience, drawing 12 walks in total, and kept the pressure on with 18 stolen bases. Kaleah Potter, Tayla Schwartzmiller, Sofia Cronin, Meier Swana, and Lacey Snouffer each swiped multiple bags.

With this win, Hopewell 12U Navy continues its impressive fall season and will look to finish strong in Thursday’s matchup against Beaver Falls 12U.

As a special reward for the hard work these players have put in this season, and thanks to the continued partnership between Hopewell Youth Baseball and Hopewell Girls Youth Softball, the girls will play their final game under the lights at the Kane Road Complex.

HGYS extends a heartfelt thank-you to President Jon Lavia for helping give these players such a memorable end to their season.

Hello Hopewell! While I am not originally a Hopewell native, it has been my home for over 12 years. My wife and I have three beautiful children that all play Hopewell sports including baseball and softball. My wife and I are both active in coaching our Children's teams. I am a member of the Hopewell Youth Baseball Board of Directors and you will probably see me out at the fields at least a few days a week. Most recently coaching my youngest sons TBALL team.
