Hopewell Vikings Open Cross Country Season with Victories for High Girls and Junior High School Girls
The Hopewell Vikings Varsity and Junior High Cross Country teams kicked off their season with strong performances and several standout finishes.
In the High School Varsity Boys race, brothers Antony and Luca Flitcraft led the way, taking 1st and 2nd place. Carter Weber placed 12th and Jack Biega 13th. Despite the strong individual finishes, the boys’ team dropped both of their matchups.
The High School Varsity Girls had an impressive outing, winning both of their matchups. Madison Inderelst claimed 2nd place, followed closely by Skylar Elias (6th), Lacie Slavinsky (7th), Keira Mann (8th), and Gracie Bruce (9th).
In the Middle School Boys race, Ryder Kostrick crossed the line first to secure 1st place, with Jack Bulebush (7th) and Grant Olson (9th) also scoring points. The boys fell to Burgettstown and picked up a win against South Side, who did not have enough runners to register a team score.
The Middle School Girls earned a win over Burgettstown in a strong showing, led by Grace Pistorius (2nd place), Mackenzie Bellomo (3rd), and Kendall Bain (4th).
The Vikings will look to build on these results as they continue their season this weekend.
