The Hopewell Vikings 8U All Star squad lit up the scoreboard over the weekend, winning two straight games in dominant fashion before falling in the semifinal round of the tournament. Powered by explosive bats and standout individual performances, the Vikings proved they belong among the top teams in the region.
Friday Night Slugfest: Hopewell 18, Findlay 15
Hopewell opened the weekend with a thrilling 18-15 win over Findlay 8U All Stars in a game packed with offense. Brody Tournay. put on a show, launching two home runs—including a grand slam—and collecting seven RBIs.
The Vikings hammered out 23 hits, with Grayden McNally and Trent Michael each going 4-for-4. Mason Thumm. sparked a five-run second inning with a three-RBI triple, while Obie DeCanio, Colton Eiler, and Declan Rinaldi all turned in multi-hit games. Hopewell also flashed some leather, turning a key double play to help secure the win.
Saturday Statement: Hopewell 17, CV 8U All Stars
Riding the momentum into Saturday, Hopewell cruised past CV ‘25 8U All Stars – Smerker in a 17-3 rout. Brody Tournay continued his torrid pace, smacking two more home runs and driving in four.
The offense erupted for 28 hits, with Hudson Lavia, Declan Rinaldi and Brody Tournay each collecting four hits. August Arostegui added a two-run homer, while Grayden McNally Harper Lavia., Mason Tournay., and Trent McNally each had multiple hits. The team scored in every inning, controlling the game from start to finish.
Semifinal Heartbreaker
Hopewell returned to action on Sunday with high hopes but fell just short in the semifinal game. While the bats had carried them through the first two rounds, timely hits were harder to come by in the loss.
Despite the outcome, the team’s effort and energy never wavered. Their two-game winning streak heading into the semifinals was a testament to their hard work, team chemistry, and competitive spirit.
