Tanner’s Big Bat Powers Kessler HSN to Comeback Win Over Hopewell Benson Tree Service

In an exciting evening of coach pitch baseball, Kessler’s 8U CP ‘HSN’ rallied from an early deficit to defeat Hopewell CP-Benson Tree Service 9-3 on Wednesday night.

In a fun night game under the lights at the Kane Road Ball Park there was offense and defense all around. At this stage of the season you can clearly see all of the hard work from winter indoor practices paying off! At this age baseball is all about teaching the basics while having Fun!

Tanner Kessler was the offensive star, going a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate and driving in four runs. His biggest swing came in the top of the fourth inning, when he launched a bases-clearing double to give Team Kessler HSN the lead. He added another RBI single in the fifth to help secure the win.

Hopewell CP-Benson Tree Service came out strong, scoring in the first inning on a single by Obelisk D. They tacked on two more in the third after a James F. base hit and a fielder’s choice by Armani T., giving them a 3-0 advantage.

But the momentum shifted quickly in the fourth. Kessler exploded for five runs on eight hits, turning a three-run hole into a 5-3 lead. From there, they stayed hot at the plate and added insurance runs in the later innings.

Kessler’s lineup was locked in, racking up 17 total hits. Alongside Tanner’s perfect night, Grayden McNally., Aurora Singletary., Hayes Singletary., Lincoln Zurenko., and Malik Shegog. each had multi-hit games, contributing to a well-rounded offensive effort. Not to be overshadowed by the offense there was a lot of defensive plays for Team Kessler HSN as well with an amazing outfield fly all catch by Ahmad Gates!

For Hopewell CP-Benson Tree Service, Trent M. was a bright spot with an impressive 4-for-4 performance. Armani, James, and Obelisk each drove in a run, and the defense turned a clean double play to keep the game close early. It’s always a fun time when two Hopewell Teams get to play against each other but even more fun when you realize it’s just a bunch of friends playing and having fun! That’s what it’s all about!

With the win, Kessler 8U CP ‘HSN’ looks ahead to their next matchup against Aliquippa 7–8U Farm League on Monday.

Hello Hopewell! While I am not originally a Hopewell native, it has been my home for over 12 years. I am a member of the Hopewell Youth Baseball Board of Directors and you will probably see me out at the fields at least a few days a week. Most recently coaching my youngest sons TBALL team.
