Hopewell Youth Baseball
SANTAMARIA- Big Opportunity for HW Youth Baseball – Spring 2025!
Major changes are coming to the Hopewell Youth Baseball League. It was voted in at last nights board meeting for the HYBBL to be invited to join the Beaver County Youth Baseball League and the vote passed unanimously. The major differences you will see and experience are very exciting with the new opportunity to play kids and teams from different communities.
From a competitive level the more diverse the experience is for the kids the better athletes they can become, through a well rounded training approach. HSN will stay close to HYBB as they prepare for Spring registration to open and track the process of this new venture.
HSN spoke to the President of the youth baseball league, John Lavia who had this to say, “
“Hopewell Youth Baseball is thrilled for the opportunity to join a new league beginning this upcoming season. We were approached a couple of weeks ago by representatives of the Beaver county youth baseball league. These representatives met with us and presented us with an invitation to join in their proposed league expansion. We were flattered by this offer and gave it serious consideration. At this time, we are excited to see what the future holds and we are optimistic that the new opportunities created by this league will be good not just for Hopewell youth baseball, which is our obvious priority, but will transcend that and be positive for Beaver county baseball moving forward.”
Greetings Vikings Nation,
Last evening, the HYBBA Board of Directors held our final meeting of 2024. During the course of the meeting, some exciting new developments were discussed.
– On Sunday night, the Beaver County Youth Baseball League’s Board of Directors voted, and extended an invitation to HYBBA to join their league. At last night’s meeting, presentation was made to the HYBBA Board by a representative of the BCYBL. Following this presentation, the HYBBA Board voted unanimously to accept this invitation from BCYBL. Ambridge Youth Baseball’s Board of Directors also voted in favor of joining BCYBL last night, meaning we are heading into this new endeavor with our close friend and neighbor. Other current members include Beaver Falls, Freedom, New Brighton, Rochester, and West Mayfield, and an eighth organization is voting tonight on their invitation.
An important note is that this new league allows the use of USSSA bats at the minor league and little league levels. We have traditionally used USA bats at these levels, and those bats can still be used, but there is now the option for players to use USSSA bats as well. This rule comes up for discussion and vote every year at BCYBL meetings, so it can be subject to change based on the way league members vote.
This change in leagues will only impact the schedules for the Coach Pitch level and above; very little will change for Coach Pitch schedules, and gradual changes will be seen as players move up to higher age levels.
Additionally, the HYBBA Board voted to open spring registration on January 1, 2025, with registration fees set as follows:
– $60 for Teeball and Modified Teeball
– $70 for Coach Pitch, Minors, and Little League
-$100 for Pony League
The $100 fundraising fee per family is still in effect. An Early Bird Discount for registrations submitted thru 1/31/2025, and the additional child discount will also be available once again! Registration will close on 2/15/2025. We strongly encourage prompt registration, as it will be harder to accommodate late signups moving forward.
The minutes from this meeting will be made available as soon as possible.
Any questions can be emailed to HYBComms@gmail.com.
Thank you,
Jon
