High School Boys Soccer Drops 4-0 Decision to Beaver
BEAVER– The exciting and sometimes frustrating part of athletics at any level is you just don’t know what you’re going to get from your favorite team.
Sometimes they’ll exceed expectations and have a performance that you didn’t expect and sometimes it’s just one of those games and the opposition is just the better team on that day.
Unfortunately, that was the case last night for the Hopewell High School Boys soccer team.
The Vikings were coming off their best match of the season, a 2-0 win over first-place Central Valley. Last night was a match at Beaver, where with a win, Hopewell would jump Beaver for 4th place in the section. That’s important because the top four teams qualify for the playoffs.
It was just a match where Hopewell couldn’t get anything going offensively and Beaver pulled away in the 2nd half to pick up a 4-0 victory. Earlier this season, Beaver defeated Hopewell, 2-1 in overtime.
Here’s a quick recap of last night’s match between the Vikings and the Bobcats.

Hopewell will need to rebound quickly because tomorrow they have another top match at Avonworth. Beaver is also in action against Central Valley.
At the end of last night’s match, HSN learned of some big news. Word was going around the match last night that Beaver had to forfeit their previous contest against Keystone Oaks. Apparently, Beaver is appealing this decision. Once details are final, we’ll let you know the outcome. If this forfeit is upheld, this would be a huge break for Hopewell.

While the varsity team list, the Hopewell JV team pulled off a thrilling 1-0 victory, with the defense playing a pivotal role.
Sam Wrzesniewski, Dominic Buchanan, James Pistorius and John Wargula anchored the backline, while Parker Hoth stepped in as goalkeeper and delivered a shutout performance.
The game’s only goal came 25 minutes into the first half when Elijah Persi-Jones drew a foul at the 20-yard line. Dominic Buchanan took the free kick and skillfully placed the ball past the goalie, securing the lead.
