Hopewell Girls Soccer Tough Luck 1-0 Loss to Central Valley

CENTRAL VALLEY-The Hopewell Girls High School soccer team has been involved in a number of one goal matches lately that haven’t gone their way.

The Lady Vikings have been very competitive but have fallen one goal short.

Last night, Hopewell traveled up Broadhead Road to take on the Central Valley Warriors and unfortunately the same story unfolded, Central Valley 1 Hopewell 0.

Hopewell’s played a very strong and physical defensive game led by Ella Ritchart, Haley Gruber, Kelsey Williams and Gianna Amadio, while the offense was supported by Angela Campbell, Maggie Egenlauf and Caylee Sundy.

Amadio got a yellow card after a tussle which resulted in a CV red card, which caused CV to be short for the remainder of the game.

HALFTIME- HOPEWELL 0 CENTRAL VALLEY 0

*At 37:02, Central Valley scored the only goal of the game as they placed one in the far corner.

*27 minutes left, nice breakaway by Campbell, only to be stopped by the CV goalkeeper.

*Hopewell had another chance on a throw in by Alaina Kelly to Campbell and Egenlauf, but it was blocked.

*At 16:48, another yellow flag flies and on a corner kick by Grace Hochmuth, Egenlauf had a good opportunity, but her shot flew just above the net.

Hopewell continued to put pressure but just weren’t able to convert. We wanted to recognize Hopewell goalie Allison Ramaley for having another strong effort in the net.

FINAL SCORE- CENTRAL VALLEY 1 HOPEWELL 0

HSN also wanted to point out the support from members of the Hopewell Boys Soccer team and ‘Mr. Hopewell’ Zach Kovell, who attended the game and supported the girls team.
