Hopewell HS Girls Soccer Loses to Beaver, 4-1
HOPEWELL TWP- The Hopewell HS girls soccer team came up on the short end of the scoreboard but as has been the case most of the season, they competed hard for 80 minutes.
The problem for the Lady Vikings has been an inability to generate offense. The girls are generating chances but haven’t been able to bury them.
It’s no doubt been frustrating for them but the positive they can take is their ability to legitimately be in these and having the opportunity to win against quality teams. If they can start getting some goals, the result on the scoreboard will change.
Last night, the Vikings hosted the Beaver Bobcats and dropped a 4-1 decision.
This game was scoreless at halftime and for the first 10 minutes of the second half. However, Beaver broke things open with 3 goals in a 10-minute span to secure the victory.
In the loss, the best player on the field for Hopewell was no doubt goalie Allison Ramaley. The junior kept the game scoreless with a number of saves but eventually the Bobcats offense broke through.
A couple of other players that were outstanding in defeat were senior Kelsey Williams, who played a strong defensive and physical game. The same can be said for senior Gianna Amadio, who was excellent defensively and disrupted a number of Beaver chances.
The other standout was senior Ella Ritchart, who played a strong all-around game, defense, passing and scoring!
Following a strong effort by Caylee Sundy, which drew a direct kick, Ritchart buried a shot to the top corner from the 25-yard line. That made the score 3-1 Beaver.
The Lady Vikings return to action on Monday when they host Avonworth.
