HS Boys Soccer Suffer Tough 2-1 Loss to Beaver
HOPEWELL TWP- Last night at Tony Dorsett Stadium, the Hopewell Boys Soccer team took on the Beaver Bobcats.
In a tight, hard-fought match, the Vikings came up on the short end of the scoreboard, 2-1.
The Vikings had a number of good scoring opportunities from free kicks and headers but were unable to capitalize aside from the one goal.
Coach Nate’s new system is taking some time to get used to, but they are picking up it each and every game.
The players that stood out to me in last nights match were sophomore RJ Bushnell, junior Tommy Armour, senior Sammy Milligan, and junior Jake Kovell.
1St HALF HIGHLIGHTS:
-9 minutes in, Bushnell with the goal assisted by Armour. Hopewell 1-0.
-20 minutes left in half, junior Bryce Ray with a prime opportunity but Beaver goal with a save.
-3 minute left in half, junior Rocco Marcantonio has an opportunity but shoots it just high. Hopewell 1-0.
HALFTIME: Hopewell 1 Beaver 0
2ND HALF HIGHLIGHTS:
-4 minutes into the 2nd half, Beaver ties the match up at 1.
-Tommy Armour sets up Ray, who gets off a shot but it hits the post. The match remains tied at 1.
-With 2 minutes left in the game, Beaver connects with the game-winning goal.
FINAL: Beaver 2 Hopewell 1
Hopewell’s record drops to 1-2 and will have two more matches this week at home, on Thursday against Riverside and Saturday against Riverside.
Prior to the varsity game, the Hopewell JV team beat Beaver, 1-0, on a goal by sophomore Will Arzberger.
