Hopewell Rec Softball
HW Softball Allstars 10u take on Blackhawk in CV Tournament
Hopewell pitching was lights out until the end of the game racking up 10 strikeouts. The walks hurt Hopewell in the final inning but Hopewell managed to throw strikes when it counted most. Sophia Cronin took the mound in the first to strike out two after walking three and loading the bases to hold Blackhawk to no runs.
Hopewell came up to bat in the bottom of the first and quickly went up one nothing on an RBI by Meier Swana scoring Gia Ceccarelli.
Sophia was back on the mound in the second and made short work of Blackhawk striking out two with some defensive support in a big throw out from second baseman Tayla Schwartzmiller from the opposite side of second base.
In the top of the third Sophia had another inning where she was lights out striking out the final two batters to get out of trouble after walking three. A force out at home from Sophia to Meier on a ground ball to the pitcher got the first out.
Back to back singles in the third by Ruby Fillo and Gracey Dunning for an rbi extending Hopewells lead to 2-0. With the bases loaded for Madison Santamaria she picks up the RBI grounding out to shortstop driving in one run. Hopewell went up 3-0 with just one out in the inning. Blackhawk walks in Ari Lavelle and Hopewell extends their lead to 4-0.
Madison Santamaria came on to close out the game and struggled to find the strike zone giving up a couple walks and allowing two runs to score, fortunately Hopewell had all the run support they needed closing out the game winning 4-2!
Hopewell continues look okay tonight at 8pm against Central Valley.
