HW Youth Softball Hosts Senior Night for Varsity Players
Last Wednesday (May 29th), Hopewell Girls Rec Softball recognized Senior softball players in a pre-game ceremony before the start of the first 15U home game of the season. The ceremony took place at the rec softball complex at Independence Elementary School. This is the first of what we hope will become a tradition, with the goal of allowing our Senior players one last chance to get back on the softball field they played on in their youth. This year’s Senior class included Ava Compton (3B), Chloe Nale (SS/C), and Mya Parish (P/1B). After a brief ceremony, in which President Bryan Pavlisko, Vice President Mark Sembower, and Hopewell High School Head Softball Coach Ronda Koblek each said a few words, Mya, Ava, and Chloe were invited to throw out ceremonial first pitches. They were then each presented with a gift – a blanket embroidered with the logo used by the youth softball organization during their time with us, along with their name and uniform #.
Not only were Chloe, Mya, and Ava standout players during their time in our youth organization, but they were also all 4-year varsity letter winners. And, their parents all served on our youth softball board, coached in our organization, or both. All three will be continuing their playing careers in college (Mya will be attending Bethany College, Ava will be attending Pitt-Greensburg, and Chloe will be attending Penn State-Behrend). We wish them the best in the next step in their softball journeys. Roll Vikes!
