Hopewell Junior High Softball Battles but Loses to Keystone Oaks, 7-5
The Hopewell Junior High Softball team were on the road Friday afternoon as they traveled to Keystone Oaks.
The Vikings gave KO at fight but came up a couple runs short as they lost 7-5.
Hopewell’s Lillian Otto was one hit short of hitting for the cycle, as she collected a single, double and a triple.
Hopewell took advantage of a KO error in the first inning to jump out to a 2-0 lead, but Keystone Oak scored 3 runs in the second to take a 3-2 lead.
Later in the game, Gianna Rossi came through with an RBI single in the top of the 6th inning, to tie the game back up at 5. However, Keystone Oaks answered in the bottom of the inning with 2 runs, which were the game-winning runs.
Abby Babinsack was on the mound to start the game for Hopewell and went 6 innings, allowing 2 earned runs, walking three and striking out seven.
Congrats to Cadence Zito, who collected two hits for Hopewell.
Next up for the Hopewell Junior High Softball team is a home game on Tuesday against Central Valley. This will be the season finale for the Vikings.
