Hopewell HS Baseball Drops 6-0 Decision to Mohawk
The Hopewell HS Baseball team lost their first game of the 2024 season, 6-0 to Mohawk at Joe Colella Field.
The Vikings bats had a hard time getting going on Wednesday afternoon as the Mohawk pitching staff lifted them to just 3 hits. Mohawk starting pitcher Vinny Pezzuolo pitched 4 innings, allowing 3 hits, 0 walks and striking out four batters.
Mohawk scored one run in the 1st, 3rd, 5th and 7th innings, while tacking on 2 in the sixth.
Aside from his pitching performance, Pezzuolo had a nice day at the plate with a triple in the 1st inning and a sacrifice fly in the 2nd to give Mohawk a 2-0 lead. On the day, he was 2 for 3, with 3 RBI.
Kingston Krotec started for Hopewell and went 5 innings, allowing 3 runs, 7 hits and striking out six batters.
Hopewell (1-1) is off today before returning to action tomorrow afternoon as they host New Castle. First pitch is scheduled for 4 PM.
