Recap of the Hopewell Bocce Ball Team in The Divisional Playoff Tournament
Hopewell Sports Nation wants to recognize and congratulate the Hopewell Blue Bocce Team!
Last night in the playoffs at Moon High School, the Hopewell Bocce team 2, which qualified for the divisional playoff tournament, finished in 2nd place.
The Hopewell Blue Bocce Team 2 team members include:
Nate Kemble
Aiden Trasp
Chris Shiel
Gabe Holtschult-Rosseau
Parker Hoth
Jacob Knobloch
Payton Korker
Logan Butter.
This group of kids finished the regular season with a 4-2 record, averaging 7.17 points per match. Hopewell entered as the No. 1 seed in the Beaver County South Division.
In the first match in the divisional playoffs, Hopewell took on the 4th seed West Allegheny and won 6-5. This match came down to the last frame where West Allegheny had 3 balls with potential to score, which would have tied it up. But after a measure, Hopewell kept them to only 2 points by 2″.
The divisional championship was against Aliquippa, the 2nd seed. Aliquippa went up 4-0 in the first two frames, but Hopewell worked the score back to 6-3 with a chance to win with time running out. However, Aliquippa ended that with a very good roll within inches of the Polina.
There is still a chance Hopewell can advance to the regional playoffs. Three of the five second place teams will advance to fill out a bracket of 8 teams. The Hopewell team will find out tomorrow if they’re one of the 3 second place teams to advance.
