Hopewell Junior High Basketball
Script Flipped: Hopewell Bounces Back From Previous Loss to Dominate South Fayette, 52-30
One month ago, South Fayette defeated the Gold Junior High Boys team with a 30 foot shot at the buzzer. That 47–46 loss must have served as a wake up call for this group.
Today’s rematch against South Fayette was never a contest. Jack Biega got the scoring going early with a steal and a lay up and the Hopewell Gold team never looked back. Smothering defense by Avery Bokor, who played his best all around game of the season, along with Jack Biega and Tre Cameron never let the game be competitive. Brody Rock and James Armstrong carried the load offensively. The Vikings steamrolled to end the first quarter with a score of 23–3.
The beat down continued in the 2nd quarter as the Gold team went into the half time locker room up 43-14. By the second possession of the second half the mercy rule was in effect 45–14….
It was typical Hopewell Gold team basketball….Physical, brutal defense, leading to transition offense, and rebounding dominance. The game was never close.
South Fayette applied a full court press when the bench was emptied in the fourth quarter, and the clock was running to close the gap to 22. Final score was 52-30
