Hopewell Track and Field
A Second School Record Today by Emma Palmieri!!!
Wow, what a day for Hopewell’s Emma Palmieri, as this talented junior is in the process of shattering Track and Field records at Hopewell.
After breaking the Vikings record in the 400 M, Emma followed that up by setting the new record in the in the 200 M.
Palmieri ran a 27.76, which breaks the old record (28.03) was also held by Leia Day. The Hopewell coaches tell HSN that after her tremendous effort in the 400, they were going to scratch her from the 200, but since the team had a long weekend to recover, and the record was very attainable, Palmieri opted to put the extra work in and go get it.
Palmieri had a busy day, running two heats in the 60m, then the 400m and 200m.
The Hopewell staff says that the strength she built during cross country season really helped her come back and perform in multiple events.
What a day for Palmieri and the Hopewell Track and Field team!
