Hopewell HS Girls Basketball With 49-39 Win Over Central Valley
The Hopewell High School Girls basketball team followed up their win earlier this week over Quaker Valley with a win last night on the road at Central Valley.
The Vikings were able to jump out to an early lead after the first quarter 14-9, with freshman Avery Boyd scoring 6 of her game high 14 points. Hopewell had a big 2nd quarter, which put them up by 13 points at the half. Sophomore Allison Ramaley scored 7 of her 12 points during the quarter.
Central Valley roared back in the 3rd quarter outscoring the Vikings 17-8, to tie the game at 34-34, with Izzy Miller making two 3 pointers in the quarter and Nyah Hayes scoring 5 points.
However, Hopewell regained the lead before the end of the quarter by scoring the final four points making the score 38-34. The game remained close the entire 4th quarter as the visiting Vikings and sophomore point guard Caylee Sundy scoring four of her 13 points in the quarter and sophomore Maya Richburg completing a three-point play extend their lead to win by ten points, 49-39.
“Our team continued playing unselfish basketball against the Warriors tonight,” said Hopewell head coach Jeff Homziak. “Everyone who saw minutes contributed, being it offensively or defensively, to the team win.”
