Nathan Richter Hired As Hopewell High School Soccer Coach
More coaching news within the Hopewell School District.
At tonight’s board meeting it was confirmed that Nathan Richter will be the new high school boys soccer coach.
Richter will be replacing longtime head coach Nick Mohrbacher, who retired in November. The Vikings team just completed a successful season in which they beat defending champion, Deer Lakes, in the first round of the WPIAL Playoffs, before losing in the next round to Shady Side Academy, 3-1. That win over Deer Lakes was the first playoff win for the Hopewell boys’ team in 12 seasons.
The hiring of Richter is an exciting one for Hopewell as he has a long and impressive resume.
Richter is a graduate of North Allegheny High School and attended St. Francis, PA. and Robert Morris University.
Aside from his coaching resume, Richter was an accomplished player as well.
*Five-time State Champion in Club Soccer
*State Champion in High School soccer
*WPIAL runner up Youth US National Team pool player
*2-Time All-Regional PlayerÂ
*2-Time All-State PlayerÂ
*Played Division 1 soccer in college
Following his playing career, Richter transitioned into coaching and has been a part of various organizations and programs.
*High School coach at Mars and Sewickley Academy
*17 years of coaching for Club Soccer (Northern Steel, North United and FC Pittsburgh)
*Was named Coach of the Year for FC Pittsburgh
*Was a State Cup winning coach and GLA finalist coach for multiple teams.Â
Hopewell is adding someone that has a track record of being a proven leader, coach and more importantly a teacher of athletes.
The Hopewell School District has a lot of young talent in the youth organizations, along with the junior high and high school programs, so adding someone with Richter is definitely exciting for the future of Hopewell boys soccer.
