Hopewell Targeting John Rosa As Next High School Football Coach
Pending school board approval, the Hopewell School District will have their next high school football coach.
When the Hopewell Area School Board next meets on January 9th, one of the items on the agenda will be the hiring of John Rosa, as the districts next football coach.
The 57-year-old Rosa is a Hopewell native with a long resume of coaching and administrative duties in Beaver County. Back in 1995, Rosa served as Hopewell’s offensive coordinator.
Rosa is currently the athletic director at Western Beaver High School, before that he served as athletic director at Freedom and a 34-year-old association with Freedom athletics, including as high school football coach (1996-1998 and 2021-2022. During those 34 years, he’s also served as head coach of Freedom wrestling and softball. He’s a man with a deep history and participation in all athletics.
Aside from his work on the field, Rosa was instrumental in two major off-the field projects at Freedom: the Jimbo Covert Golf Outing, which raised funds for the Freedom football program and scholarships and the Freedom Gridiron Greats, which is the Freedom football Hall of Fame.
Assuming his hiring is approved, Rosa will be replacing Matt Weiss, who resigned following the 2023 season.
