WATCH: Interview With New Hopewell Assistant Jr. High Basketball Coach Donovan Jeter
A new week started for the Hopewell Boy’s Junior High Basketball program as they’re currently going through conditioning and open gym sessions.
Today was a big and exciting day for the program as head coach Doug Biega introduced a new member to his coaching staff.
The boys got to meet and have their first practice with new assistant Donovan Jeter.
Jeter is a name you should be familiar with having starred and won WPIAL and PIAA football and basketball championships at Beaver Falls, then playing for 4 years at the University of Michigan. Jeter has been a practice squad the last couple of years with the NY Giants, Washington Commanders and went to training camp this year with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Jeter hasn’t given up on his dream of playing in the NFL, as he’s continuing to train and waiting for another opportunity.
As he does that, Jeter has agreed to come work with his former head coach and try and help develop the Viking players.
Following practice on Monday, Hopewell Sports Nation caught up with Jeter and talked to him about this new role.
