HV’s Swim Team Battled against Blackhawk and Moon!

The Hopewell swim team has been busy completing two meets in the last two weeks one against Blackhawk and Moon last week.
BLACKHAWK
The team had a great effort against Blackhawk. The girls won the meet! The boys fought a tough battle with 3 out before the meet even started and another two not finishing due to illness. They still had a number of best times and a few MAC cuts were achieved.
MOON MEET
It was a tough meet against Moon Township. Although both teams lost, they still scored quite a few points, which isn’t easy against such a big team and school district on their own turf.
The following relays all placed and scored in the meet:
Both the girls (Emma Driscoll, Mia Blakeslee, Aleena Gray} and boys (Mitchell Ryan, Charles Houston, Troy Palochak, and Joey Gregory) 200 Medley relay took 2nd place.
The girls 200 Freestyle relay A (Jozlyn Marnhout, Ava Yoder, Sophia Magistro, and Lindsey Brown) took second, and the B relay ( Aleena Gray, Maddie Shields, Mia Blakeslee, and Emma Driscoll) took 4th.
The Boys 200 Freestyle relay A ( Joey Gregory, Troy Palochak, Mitchell Ryan, and Charles Houston) took 2nd, and the B ( Jacob Zupsic, Tyler Oliver, Joel Olshanski, and Owen Levinger) took 3rd,

The girls 400 Freestyle Relay ( Jozlyn Marnhout, Avad Yoder, Sophia Magistro, and Lindsey Brown) took 2nd and the boys 400 Freestyle Relay (Joel Olshanski, Joseph McCullough, Owen Levinger, and Jacob Zupsic) took 1st.
The following swimmers placed and scored individually in the meet:
Sophia Magistro 3rd 200 free and 2nd 100 back, Aleena Gray had her best time and placed 4th in the 200 free and placed 5th in the 100 fly,
Mitchell Ryan had his best time and placed 4th in the 200 free and placed 2nd in the 100 back,
Owen Levinger placed 5th in the 200 free and 3rd in the 500 free,

Ava Yoder placed 2nd in the 200 IM and 1st in the 100 back,
Emma Driscoll placed 3rd in the 200 IM and 4th in the 100 free,
Jaco Zupsic placed 3rd in the 200 IM and 3rd in the 100 back,
Tyler Oliver too 5th in the 200 IM and 5th in the 100 fly,
Lindsey Brown took 2nd in the 50 free and 1 st in the 100 free,
Jozlyn Marnhout took 3rd in the 50 free and 4th in the 100 fly,
Mia Blakeslee had her best time and took 5th in the 50 free and also took 1st in the 100 breast,
Charles Houston had his best time and took 1st in the 50 free and also took 1st in the 100 breast,

Joey Gregory took 4th in the 50 free and 1st in the 100 free,
Troy Palochak took 4th in the 100 fly and 1st in the 100 back,
Joseph McCullough placed 4th in the 500 free,
Joel Olshanski took 3rd in the 100 free and 2nd in the 100 breast, and
Maddie Shields took 2nd in the 100 breast.
Congratulations to all the swimmers who competed very well, Hopewell has a tough section meet coming up tomorrow against West Allegheny the team is ready for a come back.

Hello Hopewell! While I am not originally a Hopewell native, it has been my home for over 12 years. My wife and I have three beautiful children that all play Hopewell sports including baseball and softball. My wife and I are both active in coaching our Children's teams. I am a member of the Hopewell Youth Baseball Board of Directors and you will probably see me out at the fields at least a few days a week. Most recently coaching my youngest sons TBALL team.
