HV Bowling Best West Allegheny Indians!
The Hopewell Viking Bowling Team competed on Friday at Sheffield Lanes against the West Allegheny Indians. The Vikings kicked off the back-half of their regular season campaign the same way they ended the front half: with a combined 21-0 victory against the Indians.
The Lady Vikings avenged a week 1 loss to the Indians and were led by sophomore Annabeth Sembower with 3 150+ games and a 466 series to lead all scorers. Senior captain Jenna Willy added a 411 series and senior Gianna Krayniewski added her best career series of 350 to the victory. With the 7-0 win, the Lady Vikings took sole possession of 3rdplace in the section and now have a .500 record this late in the season for the first time since 2019. They’ll look to turn that into a winning record next week.
The Viking Boys were led by sophomore Ayden Gault shooting a career high 573 series with a 200 game. Senior captain Daniel Earley started the match off with a 235 game for the Vikings. Freshman Nolan Houy added his own personal best performances with a career high series of 527 and a high game of 213, his first high school 200 game. Sophomore Aidan Heppner added another 200+ game to the list in a match that saw four Vikings shoot 200 or better.
The JV Boys remained undefeated (and unchallenged in this instance) with a 7-0 win that saw three Vikings post career highs. Senior Cade McIlvain shot a career best 154 game, senior Lucas Gielata added his two best games with a 121 and a 122 to his career best 339 series, and sophomore Greg Bailes posted a 149 game and a 357 series.
Match MVPs were awarded to senior captain Daniel Earley for posting the match high game of 235 and senior Gianna Krayniewski for shooting 25 pins over her average for the week in a huge match for the Lady Vikings.
The Vikings will look to continue their momentum next week against the Quaker Valley Quakers on Wednesday at Fair Oaks Lanes.Â
