Hopewell Girls Volleyball Scrimmage Upper St. Clair
Upper St. Clair– The Hopewell Varsity and J.V. Volleyball teams traveled to Upper St. Clair for their first scrimmage of the 2024 season.
Playing against a program like Upper St. Clair is a clear sign that Coach Terry Borkovic wants to schedule the strongest teams possible in scrimmages and non-conference games in order to prepare his team for their challenging section play.
Upper St. Clair, a AAAA program, played with physicality and skill and defeated Hopewell in all four sets that the two teams played.
While there were periods of time where Hopewell played very competitive volleyball, they couldn’t sustain the momentum.
“I was very pleased with our effort,” Coach Borkovic tells Hopewell Sports Nation. “We are making progress with our growth and development as a program. No team in our section (AA) plays with the physicality of Upper St. Clair.”
The Hopewell JV team also took on USC and won one of four sets.
Overall, considering the opposition, both teams had a positive opening scrimmage.
This coming Wednesday, Hopewell will take part in a scrimmage against Chartiers Valley and Thomas Jefferson at Chartiers Valley. The match will start at 6 PM.
