Hopewell High School Baseball Drops 4-0 Decision to Blackhawk
Coach Morgan Singletary’s team entered today’s game against Blackhawk having swept a 2-game series against Beaver. Included in that was a 15-5 win on Sunday afternoon.
Despite a very impressive start by right-hander Emmet McCowin, the Vikings offense couldn’t muster much against Blackhawk starter S. Smith, who pitched a complete game 5-hit shutout.
McCowin nearly matched Smith as he gave Hopewell and an impressive 5 innings, allowing only 1 hit, 1 ER and struck out 6 Blackhawk hitters.
This game was 1-0 Blackhawk all the way through the 6th inning when the Cougars put the game away in the top of the 7th inning with 3 runs.
Offensively for Hopewell, senior John Vescio continues to hit the well as he collected 2 hits. Other Hopewell hits were collected by Kingston Krotec, Lucas Walton and Tyler Triscila.
Hopewell’s record drops to 5-3 and 2-1 in the section.
These two teams will be back at it tomorrow (weather permitting) but this time the game will be at Blackhawk. First pitch is set for 4 PM.
