Hopewell Bowling Team Suffers First Loss of the Season
The Hopewell Viking men suffered their first loss of the 2023-24 season to the perennial juggernaut and division favorite Montour bowling team on Thursday at Crafton-Ingram Lanes.
Despite the loss, the Vikings gave the undefeated Spartans a formidable challenge, particularly in the initial game of the showdown. Fueled by Sophomore Brayden Mowry’s stellar performance, marked by a career-high game of 228, the Vikings came agonizingly close to an upset, narrowly missing out in a fiercely contested ninth frame. Notably, this marks the first 200+ game recorded by the Hopewell Bowling team this year. Adding to the strong showing, Daniel Early contributed a noteworthy high series of 543 for the Vikings.
On the women’s front, junior captain Jenna Willy led the charge with a series totaling 360. Freshman Annabeth Sembower showcased her talent by securing the high game for the Vikings with an impressive score of 134.
Junior Varsity was led by junior Reese Jacobs with a high series of 409. Freshman Aiden Klette added his career high game 145 to the effort.
While the Vikings officially have a section bye next week, they’re primed for action next Wednesday against an opponent yet to be determined.
