Hopewell Junior High Volleyball Continues to Build Momentum in Matchup at West Allegheny
The Hopewell Junior High 7th and 8th grade girls volleyball teams traveled to West Allegheny Junior High on Thursday for their second matches of the season and their first meeting against West A. While the final results did not fall in Hopewellβs favor, both teams showed determination, resilience, and the strong unity that defines the Viking Family.
The 7th grade team opened their match with confidence, securing an impressive 25β17 victory in the first set. West Allegheny responded in the second set, narrowly defeating Hopewell 25β21. The deciding third set was a hard-fought battle, with Hopewell continuing to compete point-for-point, but ultimately falling short to close out the match.
The 8th grade team delivered a dominant performance in their opening set, earning a convincing 25β13 win. The momentum shifted in the second set, where West Allegheny edged Hopewell in a close 25β21 finish. The third set remained competitive throughout, but Hopewell came up just short, falling 15β11.
Despite the losses, both teams demonstrated tremendous effort and enthusiasm. As players continue to learn new positions, refine their skills, and develop their understanding of the game, their growth and commitment are evident on the court. Their positive attitude and team-first mindset continue to be a strong foundation early in the season.
Hopewell will look to build on this experience in their upcoming matches next week. The Lady Vikings will host Quaker Valley at home on February 24 before traveling to South Fayette on February 26.
All home matches are held at Junior High Gym A, with the 7th grade team beginning at 3:30 p.m., followed by the 8th grade team at 4:30 p.m. Fans are encouraged to come out and support the Lady Vikings as they continue to grow and compete throughout the season.
