Hopewell came out swinging in their home opener Friday night and never looked back β€” crushing Riverside in a 56-0 shutout! πŸ’ͺπŸ’›πŸ–€

By the end of the 3rd, the game was already in the books, and the Vikings coasted their way to a statement victory.

Hopewell Blanks Riverside in Dominant 56–0 Victory

The Hopewell Vikings made quite a statement in their season opener Friday night, overwhelming the Riverside Panthers with a 56–0 shutout on the road in Ellwood City.

Hopewell’s offense struck early and never let up, scoring on each of its first eight possessions. By halftime, the Vikings had built a commanding 35–0 lead, and by the end of the third quarter, the margin had grown to 56–0 β€” the eventual final score. The fourth quarter was played under the mercy rule, with Hopewell’s starters on the sidelines and the clock running.

Freshman running back Nasir β€œBruiser” Wade was a force all night, ripping off long runs and powering into the end zone for multiple touchdowns. He had one 70-yard score called back due to a penalty, but it hardly slowed the Vikings’ momentum.

Quarterback James Armstrong added balance through the air, tossing several touchdown passes to keep Riverside’s defense on its heels. Wide receiver Avery Bokor nearly broke the game open on special teams with a punt return touchdown, though the play was called back.

On the defensive side, Hopewell was equally impressive. The Vikings’ front line consistently pressured Riverside’s quarterback, while the secondary came up with key takeaways, including an interception in the first half and a fumble recovery late in the second quarter. The unit smothered the Panthers’ offense from start to finish, holding them scoreless and forcing repeated three-and-outs.

With the win, Hopewell starts its season at 1–0 in commanding fashion. The Vikings will look to carry that momentum into their home game this Friday night when they host New Castle at 7 p.m. Riverside, meanwhile, will have extra time to regroup before returning to action on September 19 against New Brighton.

Next up ➑️ New Castle comes to town Friday at 7 PM β€” let’s pack the stands and keep this momentum rolling! 🏈⚑️
