Hopewell and Central Valley To Play in The ‘Champions For Charlie Basketball Game Tonight’, Please Support
The Hopewell and Central Valley sports teams compete on the court and fields against one another but that doesn’t mean we can’t work together off the field.
Tonight is one of those occasions as the Hopewell High School boys’ basketball team will take on CV. Honestly though, the result of tonight’s game is secondary to what’s really important.
This is a family that my family knows extremely well, and this means a lot to us so if you’re going to the game, we ask that you please support this tremendous cause.
The Charlie Rowe Scholarship was created in 2016 by the Champions for Charlie Foundation. It was created in memory of Charlie Rowe who passed away at the age of 4 following a diagnosis of pediatric cancer. Since 2016, the scholarship has awarded $1,000 scholarships to two Montour Seniors each year. This year, the scholarship is being offered to Central Valley seniors as well. Charlie’s scholarship was developed to give back to the community following an outpouring of care and support for the Rowe Family during Charlie’s illness. It remains a tribute to Charlie’s memory.
To support the scholarship, the Rowe Family is holding a t-shirt sale. This year, the t-shirt sale and the themed basketball games were taken on by Montour Seniors, Parker Brennan and Jaxon Camp. They were assisted by Central Valley students, Maryn Rowe, Addison Woelfel, Sienna Zelesnik, Francesca Bell and Maura Cwynar.
Tonight’s game between Hopewell and Central Valley is being called “The Champions for Charlie boys basketball game”. T-Shirts will be on sale at tonight’s game, please buy one, which will support this tremendous cause.Â
Scholarship applications are now available for Central Valley seniors who wish to apply.
If you’re going to tonight’s game and would like to make a donation, please make a check out to Champions for Charlie.
The Rowe Family thanks you for your support!
